We are off to a great start here in Sunyani, Ghana. When we arrived yesterday afternoon we could already feel the electricity in the air. Everywhere we went, we were welcomed by enthusiastic crowds, the media, the local authorities and even the traditional king.

The city of Sunyani arose as an outpost camp for elephant hunters during the 19th century and the name Sunyani derives from the Akan word for elephant "Osono". In 1924, The British Empire government designated Sunyani as a district headquarters. Sunyani is the capital of the Brong-Ahafo region, which is one of ten regions in Ghana.
