An Overwhelming Response

The final meeting here in Sunyani, Ghana was attended by 220,000 people tonight. That is quite remarkable considering that the population is less than 250,000. Indeed, it seemed like the entire region was present on the field tonight. There was such an openness to the Gospel.

Watch this incredible, 52 second time lapse video captured  (in 4K) on the final day!

As I was preaching, it felt like the people were hanging on every word…so receptive…so hungry. When I gave the call for salvation, the response was overwhelming. As they prayed the prayer of salvation with me, it sounded like thunder. It was a surreal experience. There is no question that this region has been significantly impacted by this event. And this comes at an especially strategic time. The presidential elections in Ghana take place in just a few days. I believe we were sent here for a divine purpose.

Now, we are already focused on the next crusade in just three weeks. We will be in Burkina Faso next. Thank you for continually holding us up in prayer as we press forward tirelessly in this historic season of harvest.

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda

Holy Spirit Day

No matter how many times we do this, it never gets old. This morning, and again tonight, we prayed as we do in every crusade, for the people to receive the baptism into the Holy Spirit. Twice today, we saw how ready and willing the Father is to pour out His promise on every hungry heart.

Tonight, we heard a testimony from a man who was an armed robber. He got saved a few years ago in one of our previous crusades in Ghana. He also had suffered a leg and neck injury in his gangster days during a robbery, and he has carried this in his body for years. Last night, Jesus completely healed him. He waited to see if it was real. Tonight, he testified that all the pain is gone. He has full mobility in his body. He is totally healed!

A woman told us that she had an eye disease which was supposed to leave her blind. She put medication in her eyes every day, and had to visit the doctor at the hospital once per month for treatment. Yesterday, she came to the meeting and was prayed for. Today was her day for treatment at the hospital, but after the doctor examined her he said he doesn’t want to see her anymore. She is totally well!

These, and many other wonderful testimonies were given tonight. When I asked how many people have received a physical healing this week, literally hundreds upon hundreds of hands went up…maybe even thousands. But the greatest miracle is the tens of thousands that have surrendered their lives to Jesus. Sunyani will never be the same again.

Tomorrow night is the last meeting here. Please intercede for us, and for one more massive harvest.

250% Increase!

Tonight we saw a 250% increase in attendance over last night! Peter Vandenberg said he’s never seen such a dramatic increase from one night to the next. This is a powerful indicator that the word has gone out both far and wide that Jesus is doing great things here in Sunyani, Ghana. We heard that last night, a blind man who did not receive his sight in the meeting, was walking home when suddenly he was completely healed spontaneously. The power of God is touching the whole region, and multitudes are flocking to the crusade ground to experience it for themselves.

Tonight, tens of thousands received Jesus as Savior with many wonderful miracles that happened as well.

A boy who was deaf in the left ear for 6 years, received his hearing. A woman’s spinal cord injury was healed. We threw her back brace away and the people rejoiced. A man who was left paralyzed from a stroke for the last two years, received his healing.

Broken bones were mended, growths disappeared and cripples walked. Glory to God!

Tomorrow is the final meeting in the Fire Conference, and we are believing for a mighty outpouring. Please continue to pray. Amazing things are happening.

Electricity in the Air

We are off to a great start here in Sunyani, Ghana. When we arrived yesterday afternoon we could already feel the electricity in the air. Everywhere we went, we were welcomed by enthusiastic crowds, the media, the local authorities and even the traditional king. We were told again and again that nothing like this had ever happened in Sunyani before. Tonight, after I had finished preaching, my interpreter told me that he had never seen a crowd like this in his life – and this is only the first night!

After I preached the Gospel and prayed for the sick, many wonderful miracles happened including the healing of a man who could not stand up straight or walk without a four wheeled walker.

Another man who was using crutches danced on the platform!

Paralytics were completely healed, and others testified that chronic pain vanished.

This morning Rev. Peter Vandenberg and I preached to the pastors and church leaders from the region who are hungry for revival to break out in this land. They told us that they have never seen revival in Sunyani, but they are believing that this week is the beginning of an ongoing move of God.

Please pray for us, and for the precious Body of Christ here in Sunyani.

Yours in the Gospel,

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda

Sunyani, Ghana

Sunyani

The city of Sunyani arose as an outpost camp for elephant hunters during the 19th century and the name Sunyani derives from the Akan word for elephant "Osono". In 1924, The British Empire government designated Sunyani as a district headquarters. Sunyani is the capital of the Brong-Ahafo region, which is one of ten regions in Ghana. The Sunyani district has the highest number of health facilities and secondary schools, and is the most urbanized district in the region.

People

The predominant ethnic group in the region is Akan, and second is Dagomba. The majority of Sunyani houses are improvised homes built with corrugated metal sheets for roofing, and cement or concrete for walls and floors. One-room occupancies are a predominant feature of homes in the region because the cost for renting additional rooms is high in the urban areas such as Sunyani. For this reason many live in tents (or “kiosks”). The main food crops are maize, cassava, plantain, yam, cocoyam, rice and tomatoes.

Land & Climate

Sunyani is surrounded by the forested Southern Ashanti uplands. Places of interest just outside the city include Kintampo waterfalls and the Boabeng monkey sanctuary in Fiema. Following the construction of a road connecting Sunyani and the city of Kumasi, Sunyani became an important hub for the distribution of cocoa, kola nuts, and staple foods such as maize and yams. The average temperatures for November are highs of 31 C (87 F) and lows of 24 C (76 F).

Economy

The economy of Sunyani is predominantly agrarian with approximately 48% of the population engaged in agriculture production. About 24 percent of the population is employed in the service sector, followed by commerce and industry which employ 15% and 13% of the populace, respectively. Water sources include rain water and water from streams, rivers and springs. The major cash crops are cocoa and cashew.
